STYLIST REVIEW OF 'BALLROOM' BY TAHITI 80
The group's name could be embroidered on the T-shirt of a girl on four-wheeled rollerblades, but not in line. She comes up to us and asks for a bubblegum while taking off her headphones. The music is pleasant, and we ask if we can listen in exchange.
She hands us her vintage headphones. The retro-futuristic pop sound emanating from them is reminiscent of the early days of Phoenix. She pops a bubble and tells us that they've been a big hit in Japan since their first album, that this is their sixth and that, what's more, they hail from Rouen. We think she's lying. The whole thing reeks of California. And it doesn't matter if we're wrong, we don't want to prove her right. Reluctantly, we take back her helmet, not forgetting to ask for the gum back.
