French touch is not dead!

Loved since their first album, released at the height of the French Touch fever in 1999, the group returns to its roots with this new opus. Produced by American Richard Swift (of The Shins or Foxygen fame), Ballroom is not obsessed with Anglo-Saxon rock. Instead, it cultivates a synthesizer-fuelled pop, danceable ("Coldest Summer", "Missing") or down-tempo ("Love by Numbers", "The God of the Horizon"), always subtly melancholic. Tahiti 80's sense of melody, which has never been so aptly named, can be found here: reminiscent of the federative melopees of the 80s, it evokes warm, distant landscapes. The rhythms are languorous and Xavier Boyer's voice soars gracefully over the songs. A lovely moment.
