DO ARTISTS GET A FAIR FINANCIAL DEAL FROM A NAKED RELEASE AND HOW MUCH CONTROL DO THEY HAVE?

NAKED is not a major record label. We are a young independent record club co-founded by Simon Parker, a former professional musician.  Simon experienced more than his fair share of record deals which invariably left himself and fellow band members broke so we do things VERY differently!

A partnership with a fair profit share. Sometimes NAKED will work directly with artists who own the rights to their music. On other occasions we will licence the music rights directly from a record label. Either way NAKED covers ALL costs and the artists take on zero financial risk. They lose nothing if we fail to sell their records. When we release a record which the artist owns the rights to we split profits 50/50.

When we work with a record label we pay a licencing fee and mechanical royalties. The royalties should drip down to the artist. We never licence a record without speaking to the artist beforehand. We prefer to work with their blessing and, if possible, their involvement too.

Artists never lose control. NAKED works with recording artists as part of a team. These artists know how they want their album to look and sound. We make joint decisions about all aspects of the record creation and then agree to undertake promotion activities which they artist is happy and comfortable to take part in.
