NAKED'S BEST OF 2025 - 70 FANTASTIC TRACKS TO START 2026 WITH A BANG!

2025 will, amongst many other things, probably be most accurately remembered as ‘tumultuous’. It’s a great adjective which loosely means ‘making an uproar or loud, confused noise’. Make no mistake, there was plenty of confused noise in 2025, but none of it came from the music.

It was a tough year for many of us and NAKED Record Club had its fair share of  thwarted plans during those long 12 months of shifting world agendas.

But the music of 2025 never wavered, and I struggled to keep this playlist down to just 70 songs! That’s the mark of another highpoint moment in music when established artists such as Pulp and Suede returned with effortlessly triumphant albums that rank amongst their very best. Indeed, 4 out of our top 5 artists have been making music for 30 years or more, with Travis and Idlewild also dazzling with great tunes. Ditto Robert Forster, Matt Berninger, Rialto and The Divine Comedy, all of whom released dazzling new music during 2025.

But there was also a lot of fantastic newer names making their NAKED end of year debuts this year, with Ex-Void, The Cords, Lambrini Girls and The Beths (to name but a few) flying the fuzz punk flag whilst Horsegirl, Sharp Pins and Wednesday all turned in skewed post punk masterpieces.

And that’s not even the half of it as this Top 70 boldly attests to. It gives us the energy to keep on fighting the good fight in sustainable record making for our beloved indie artists. 

So here’s to a better year for everybody. Especially you, dear friend of NAKED Record Club!
